Bakaris
A captain under Kitiara's command in the Dragon Army.
Berem
See Green Gemstone Man
Blood Sea of Istar
The sea under which the ancient city of Istar sank in the Cataclysm. It is called the Blood Sea because of its color, which is not really from the blood of those drowned, as popular myth would have it. The truth is that the whirl pool at the center of it keeps the red dirt stirred up in the water, giving it the color which gave it its name.
Brightblade, Sturm
Knight of Solamnia, order of the Sword. He does not gain this position until shortly before his death at the Dark Lady's hand. He is dedicated to the Code and the Measure.
Burrfoot, Tasslehoff

See Majere, Caramon
Cataclysm
The day when the gods punished the world for its overwhelming belief in its rightouesness and (mostly) for the overweaning demands of the King Priest of Istar. Istar sank beneath the Blood Sea. The Cataclysm ended the Age of Dreams and began the Age of Might.
Crownguard, Derek
A Solamnic knight of the Rose, Derek, before his death, vies with Lord Gunthar for the position of Grand Master. Before his death he is quite mad, and in this state of lunacy, leads the major portion of the garrison guarding the High Clerist's Tower to their deaths.
Dark Lady

Draconians
Originally, these scaled and dragon-like creature wander the land poising as clerics with hoods and bandages to hide their scales. They are about the size of a very tall man. Their hands end in claws, as do their feet. They also have short wings, which cannot be used for actual flight, but can be used to glide quite well. In Dragons of Spring Dawning, we find out that the draconians are being made from the hostage eggs of the good dragons.
Dragons
Bad Dragons: There are five different types of evil dragons. Each color of dragon has their own type of killing breath, and they all produce dragon fear. Each color is also adapted to its own climate and area. The evil dragons serve Takhisis. Below is a list of evil dragons:
| Color | Breathes | Climate |
| Black | Acid | not specified |
| Blue | Lightening | Tropical (South) |
| Red | Fire | Temperate (North) |
| White | Ice | Ice Wall (Far North) |
| Green | Acid | not specified |
Good Dragons: There are four different types of good dragons. Unlike the evil dragons, they are not climate specific and do not have specialized breath. These dragons serve Paladine. Their breath is fire. Their colors are the precious and semi precious metals: gold, silver, brass, and bronze. They have the ability to assume the forms of the others races. See Silvara.
Dragonlance
The only known nonmagical weapon that can defeat a dragon.
Dragon Orb
Created by the first time that the mages of all denominations came together to work great magic, these orbs are created by the power of good and the power of evil, bound together by nuetrality. The orbs can work both good and evil. To use an orb, the magi must struggle first to gain mastery of it, something only a very few can accomplish. When this task has been completed, the orb can be used to call dragons or as a well of information.

Elves

Fargo, Trapspringer
Every kender's "Uncle" Trapspringer. There are thousands of wild tales floating around about this vague kender figure. When asked, Tasslehoff explained that Trapspringer sort of exists. The story goes as follows: one day Trapspringer managed to make Reorx very angry with him. So Reorx mixed Trapspringer up in the flow of time--sometimes he exists in this time, sometimes in the future, sometimes in the past. Tas even says that he had a friend whose brother knew a kender whose aunt's husband had seen Trapspringer.
A note aside from this: In the Compiled Traveling notes of Ogden Shatterstone, a Traveler of No Small Repute, it is stated that a kender, when wishing to have a holiday, and when there is no other holiday in progress, will announce a "Trapspringer Day." Supposedly, these days are the anniversary of Trapspringer's birth, or else his death. No one's quite sure.
Fireflash
See Kirsah
Fireforge, Flint
Flint Fireforge is a Hill Dwarf. He enjoys carving wood in his old age as an alternative to stone. During Tanis's youth, he lived in Qualinesti, which is how became such good friends with the half elf. He is commonly seen with Tas. He died of a heart attack in Dragons of Spring Dawning while chasing Berem.
Fistandantilus
One of the most powerful mages ever known on Krynn. His affiliation is that of evil, the black robes. He is semi-reincarnated in Raistlin.
Fizban
Is 1) a befuddled old mage who occasionaly travels with Tanis and his companions. Tas is especially fond of him. He is known for having a rumpled hat which never stays on his head, forgetting his name, forgetting his spells, and for talking to trees. 2) The kender name for the god Paladine.
Gakhan
The Dark Lady's special "assistant." Draconian by race, had a major part in the kidnapping of the Golden General.
Gilthanis
A Qualinost elf and Laurana's brother. Gilthanis is also the second son of the Speaker of the Sun, and Tanis's half cousin.
Gnomes
Created at the same time as the kender by the Graygem of Gargath, having once been part of the race of dwarves, the gnomes are the other inquisitive race on Krynn. They are more technologically inclined, however, and have devoted their lives and their home (Mt. Nevermind) to the study of better, more effecient ways of accomplishing things. Unfortunately, most of their inventions fail miserably and its easier to do things the "hard way." The gnomes are also known to be excitable, and talk extremely quickly. No one has ever heard one finish a sentence.
Goldmoon
The chieftan's daughter from the tribe of Que-Shu, a barbarian people. She is married to Riverwind, of that same tribe, and bears his child.
Grand Master
The highest position in the order of Solamnic knights. Along with the High Clerist and the High Justice, he makes the decisions which govern the entirety of the knights.
Green Gemstone Man
Also known as the Everman, because he cannot die. He is characterized by the youth of his eyes in comparison to the rest of his body. His given name is Berem. He is the key which opened that door from Takhisis's banishment, and he is the only thing that keeps her entirely from the world.
Gully Dwarves
Are considered a subrace of dwarves, as draconians are to dragons. The dwarves have nothing to do with them, and the other races see them as almost a type of rat; anywhere there's enough garbage a gully dwarf will show up. Amazingly enough, these filthy little critters are also excellent cooks, if you can convince them to use something besides rats for dipping.
Gunthar
Acting Grand Master.
Half-Elven, Tanis
The result of the rape of his mother by a human, Tanis is torn between the two worlds by love and by customs. He is the leader of the nine heroes. The Chronicles focus themselves mainly around him and Laurana.
Hammer of Kharas
The hammer which was originally used and required to forge the Dragonlance, but is given to the Mountain Dwarves by the companions in return for a home for the human war refugees. The Hammer is no longer needed to forge the lance, as man's skill has greatly improved.
High Clerist
A position second to that of the Grand Master in the Order of the Knights of Solamnia. The High Clerist is always a cleric of Paladine, the god worshipped by the Knights.
High Clerist's Tower
Located in the one pass into the city of Palanthas, this tower was (before the Cataclysm) where all of the aspiring Knights of Solamnia went for their religous training. It also guarded the city from danger. It is the place of Sturm's death and burial.
High Justice
A position secondary to that of the Grand Master of the Knights of Solamnia, but still having a great amount of authority within the knighthood.
Hill Dwarves
Dwarves who live in the hills, and are the enemies of the Mountain Dwarves from the time of the Dwarfgate Wars. Flint is a Hill Dwarf.
Huma
The knight of Solamnia who is said in the Song of Huma to have single handedly (well, he did have some help from Paladine) banished the Queen of Darkness. This was after having fallen in love with a silver dragon in the form of a woman. Her name is unknown.
Irda
Originaly a part of the race of Ogres (once the most beautiful, intelligent race on Krynn, their downfall was wrought by the Queen of Darkness), the Irda are all that remain of that race that are not transformed. Their skin is blue and their ears are pointed. It is rumored by the ancient histories that they live still in the Dragon Isles. Also known as the Children of the Stars.
Ironfield, Theros
The smith with the silver arm who makes the Dragonlance in the War of the Lance. He is also widely known as an elf-friend, and lived in the Qualinost away from Qualinost, so to speak, for a good period of time.
Jeoffrey, Lord Michael
The Knight in the position of High Justice at Sturm's trial.
Kaganesti
The race of elves who do not like cities, and so live as naturally as they may. This has earned them the name Wilder Elves, and they are considered by the Qualinesti and Silvenesti to be barbarian. They live on the island of Southern Ergoth. They are skilled in the healing arts.
Kender
A race created by the Graygem of Gargath along with the gnomes. They are ever curious, and do not know fear. They make their home in Kendermore. The other races avoid them first, for their ways of constantly "finding" and "borrowing," and second, for their dreaded tuant. The kender, only about four feet in height, uses the tuant to push the most docile enemy into a roaring rage. The favored kender weapon is a hoopak, basically a spear with a sling shot on the end. Kender are normally coated in poaches and pockets for "their" treasures and wear their hair in a topknot. They have pointy ears and child-like faces. They all have an uncle named Trapspringer.
Kirsah
Otherwise known (to mortals) as Fireflash. This bronze young dragon carried both Flint and Tas to their first airborne battle, where they captured Bakaris.
Kitiara
The half sister of Caramon and Raistlin Majere, Kitiara was once a member of the party most widely known now as the Heroes of the Lance. This was before the war began, however. Kitiara and Tanis were lovers. When the War of the Lance began, Kitiara devoted her mercenary services to the Dark Queen. She is also known as the Dark Lady. She commands the blue dragons.
Krynn
The world on which the War of the Lance takes place. Legends say that Reorx created it on his mighty anvil, and that if you fall through the world, you will be crushed on the otherside between the dwarf god's hammer and the earth, as he is still making more.
Lauralanthalasa
More commonly know as Laurana. The beautiful daughter of the Speaker of the sun, she is in love with Tanis Half-Elven. She runs after him, and joins in the companion's quest to rid Krynn of the Dragon of All Colors and None. She becomes Palanthas's Golden General. She marries Tanis.
Lunitari
The red colored moon of Krynn from which the Red Robes recieve their power.
Mages
The mages/magi/magicians of Krynn come in three varieties: The White Robes, the Red Robes, and the Black Robes. Below is a chart of the moons whose waxes and wanes control the power of the mages, and which color of robe is affiliated with what position.
